Details
Led by one of our forest school leaders at our beautiful woodland basecamp, this is a forest school session for 0-4 year olds to attend with a parent, grandparent or carer.Wear warm clothes, waterproofs, wellies, and bring an open mind, a snack and a drink.
All activities are child-led and therefore appropriate for all ages - even babies from 6 months can benefit! As parents, we try to step back, observe and support our children when they need our help.
Read here about how to be a 'learning ally' for your child.

People say
"We've been doing forest tots this year and it's been SO beneficial to my son and I really feel it has given him something to focus on each week. Thanks, Beverley""M has made so much progress at Forest Tots and yesterday, our darling boy (who 2 months ago couldn't even accept a hello from a stranger without burying his head in my lap) independently went to most of the Forest Tots parents to proudly show them his new puppy 'Log Dog'. Having just turned 2, M has really struggled to be introduced to society after lockdown. Your forest leader has worked so hard to understand him, always with patience and such a calm air about her. It is a delight to be able to see our lovely boy finally feeling secure enough to share his beautiful personality outside of our immediate family and Forest Tots did that for him. Thanks, Jenny"
A Typical Session
We meet at the top of Hosey Common car park and play in the woods there for a while then sing a welcome song. We wander up to the forest kindergarten base camp exploring along the way. At base camp, we enjoy a snack around the log circle, then it's time to explore. Children enjoy exploring the rope swings as well as tree climbing, bug hunting, painting with mud, den building or mud face painting! Sometimes there will be an activity or craft idea, but the session flows according to children's interests. As the session draws to a close, we gather around the fire circle for some singing or a story. For those wishing to have a more relaxing session, our hammock is a great place to share stories.
