"Anything you teach in an indoor classroom can be taught outdoors, often in ways which are more enjoyable for children" Cathy James
Did you know that your child does not have to start school until they are 5 and that funding is still available until then?
Launched in September 2021, our new forest school group continues to cover the early years curriculum, including everything children would learn in the reception year of school, whilst maintaining our ethos of learning through play, exploration and connection with nature. With a maximum of 12 children led by a qualified primary school teacher and forest school leader alongside our early years assistant, we offer a fantastic teacher to child ratio. Our calming woodland creates a nurturing and stimulating environment, inspiring imagination, awe and wonder.
Our school group runs on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am-2pm and is open to children aged 4-6, as well as home-schooled children up to age 7. The group comprises many summer-born children who are able to stay for another year playing and learning in the forest. The following year, you can enter your child into reception (with deferred start) or they may go straight into year 1 of primary school.
Free funding is still available for 15 hours up until age 5 and additional hours are £6/hr.
